New York, NY 10003
Location: 20th St. & Broadway

Attractions: city sights

Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the US, lived at this site from his birth on October 27, 1858 until he was 14 years old. The reconstructed house contains five period rooms, two museum galleries and a bookstore. It was sold by the family in 1899 and converted into a shop, which was demolished in 1916, when Theodore declined to re-purchase his old home. After his death in 1919, the site was bought by the Women’s Roosevelt Memorial Association, rebuilt and decorated with many of its original furnishings by Roosevelt’s sisters and wife.
